What's Rabies?

Rabies is a viral illness spread through the saliva of an infected animal. This happens because rabid animals biting a human or another animal. Transmission can also occur through saliva touching an open wound or touching mucous membrane.
Rabies is a disease that affects the brain. Rabies attacks the brain and spinal cord. If it is not prevented, it will cause death. It´s usually passed from animal to animal but it can be passed from animals to people. It´s caused by a virus. A virus is a very tiny germ, and you can only see that germ if you have a special microscope. Any mammal can get rabies. Do you remember what a mammal is? Mammals are warm-blooded animals with fur. We´re mammals, and so are most of our pets like cats and dogs. Lots of farm animals like cows and horses are mammals, and so are wild animals like foxes and skunks. We can all get rabies. Even bats can get rabies!
Rabies is a serious disease. This year, over 59,000 people around the world will die from rabies. That's one person every 10 minutes. Half of the people who die from rabies are under the age of 15.How can you protect yourself from rabies?
Rabies prevention in humans generally takes the form of avoiding wild animals or having domesticated animals vaccinated. For example control to remove all stray animals from your neighborhood since these animals may be unvaccinated or ill. Nevertheless, there are pre-exposure vaccines available for humans who are likely to be exposed due to high risk activities. The importance of vaccinating, pets are vaccinated by your veterinarian to prevent them from acquiring the disease from wildlife, and thereby transmitting it to humans. By the way, visit your veterinarian with your pet on a regular basis and keep rabies vaccinations up-to-date for all cats, ferrets, and dogs.
Rabies is a big problem in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Medicines and vaccines are sometimes not available there, so if someone is bitten by an animal with rabies, they might not be able to get help right away. So World Health Organization create campaign to eliminate human deaths from canine rabies by 2030.
*Rabies Zero Death by 2030
Why We Eliminate Rabies. Because it kill more than 59,000 every year - 40% is children from Africa and Asia. Dog bite cause almost action of human so we can find the way to protect - vaccination, control dogs that trend to aggressive. We have three objective by WHO is
1 To efficiently prevent and respond through effective use of vaccines
2 To generate, innovate and measure impact through policies,
3 To sustain commitment and resources to drive progress
This objective we will start in 2018 to start up, 2021 to scale up , 2026 to mop up and we will finish goal in 2030.

We hope that the presentation on rabies will make you aware of the dangers that exist around you. We hope you will be careful in living. Find out how to prevent the danger before it is too late.
